Information About Beryl:
Beryl is a family of gemstones which includes Emerald and Aquamarine. Any of the common colors may be referred to as "Beryl", but other colors are often called by their other names, listed below:
Green - Emerald
Blue - Aquamarine
Pink - Morganite
White/Colorless - Goshenite
Yellow - Heliodor or Golden Beryl
Interesting note: Lighter pale green beryl is not Emerald because the coloring agent is not chromium.
COMMON GEM COLORS: Green, Blue, Pink Yellow. Less commonly used colors are violet, blue, and pale green.
HARDNESS ON MOH'S SCALE: 7.5 to 8
SHAPES FOR CUTTING: Suitable for all facet shapes, with cushion cut and oval being the most popular.
