Sapphire is the most common term used to refer to the CORUNDUM gemstone.
Colorless in its purest state, but also occurs in many colors in nature. Also is often treated to produce desired colors.
Sapphire is found in many parts of the world, but most is mined in Burma, Sri Lanka, and Australia. It is also common in the U.S. states of Montana and Colorado.
